Divotting Evening

On Sunday 8th June Greens Convener Terry Sayer and his deputy John Dingwall organised a club divotting session to bring the fairways back to their usual impeccable standard.

19 club members came along for the two-hour session - a terrific turn out that we are almost certain had nothing to do with the promise of free food and drink afterwards.

The whole thing was great fun, a resounding success and it bore testament to the marvellous spirit of loyalty that exists in this golf club.

Hannah's gross score of 73 in the Mustard Trophy on 24th May 2008 is a new Ladies Course Record

The Badenoch and Strathspey Sports Council at their Awards Ceremony in March presented the title of Junior Sports Personality Of The Year to our:

Hannah McCook

Monumental Change To Local Rules

Following a visit from the SGU we have been advised that the local rule -

"WAR MEMORIAL - A tee shot striking the War Memorial when playing the 8th and 17th holes may be replayed without penalty"

does not comply with the rules of golf and therefore

has been withdrawn

However, players are reminded that the War Memorial is an immovable obstruction and therefore relief may be taken under the rules if the memorial, its plinth or gravel surround interferes with the player's stance or swing. In all other cases the ball must be played as it lies.

LADIES AGM

The Ladies AGM was held in the Clubhouse at 7pm on Tues 23rd October 07.

HANNAH McCOOK SELECTED FOR EXTRA TRAINING!!

Hannah McCook has been selected by the Scottish Ladies Golf Association (www.slga.co.uk) for additional training to improve her game during the winter 2007/8, in the SLGA Prospects Squad. The SLGA have obviously recognised Hannah's potential. Good luck from all members at the club.

HANNAH McCOOK, JOHN RUTLEDGE & JOHN McCOOK
Thank everyone who kindly sponsored their entry in the annual BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION JUNIOR GOLF COMPETITION held at TORVEAN GOLF CLUB. We enjoyed our days golf on a relatively flat ,narrow 18 hole course. We played a Stableford competition, where the top 2 scores counted. We were 6th out of 15 teams. The top 2 teams qualified for the next round in Perth. The qualifiers had 79 and 74 points, we had 70 points.

TOTAL SPONSORSHIP RAISED IN THIS HEAT WAS £2200. Thank you for sponsoring us. We raised £238.

COURSE RECORD

Gordon Hay, Home Club Grantown on Spey, set a new course record playing in the Mens Open, 13th August 2006, with a Gross 61. Gordon was playing off Scratch on the day of the competition. This equalled the previous course record set by Ian Murray, Abernethy Golf Club, on the old course lay out before the 8th hole was extended.
