This hole is the sternest test of golf at Abernethy. It comprises a sharp dog-leg close to the perimeter of the course with trees and heather flanking the approach to an undulating green.
For most golfers the drive is down into the meadow shared with the sixth, leaving a second shot uphill and round the corner to the second part of the fairway. Big hitters might try to clear the meadow in one go but trees, heather and out-of-bounds await anything but the longest and most accurate of drives. The forest beside this hole is a favourite spot for small boys searching for golf balls.
Again there are no bunkers but there are trees and heather to the left of the green and sloping ground beyond and to the right.
